Scheduling Scans

Scheduled scans let you automate ongoing security monitoring for your domains so you don't have to trigger scans manually. This article covers how to set up weekly, monthly, and one-time schedules, how to manage and edit them, and best practices for when to scan — including when to run manual scans outside your schedule.

Scheduling Scans

Instead of manually running scans, you can schedule them to run automatically on a recurring basis, ensuring your domains are continuously monitored for new vulnerabilities.

Setting Up a Scheduled Scan

  1. Go to Domains and click on the domain you want to schedule

  1. On the domain detail page, click Schedule Scan

  1. Choose a frequency: Weekly (once a week on the day you choose) or Monthly (once a month on the date you choose)

  1. Select the day or date, a start time, and your timezone so scans run when you expect

  1. Click Save Schedule

Managing Scheduled Scans

Your scheduled scan configuration appears on the domain detail page. You can edit or disable the schedule at any time. Scheduled scans appear in the Active Scans section of your Dashboard when they run.

One-Time Scans

You can also schedule a scan for a specific future date and time. From the domain detail page, click Schedule Scan, select One-Time instead of a recurring frequency, pick the date and time, and click Schedule.

Best Practices

Weekly scans are recommended for most production websites — frequent enough to catch new vulnerabilities without being excessive. Monthly scans are suitable for low-traffic or static sites. Schedule scans during off-peak hours to minimize any performance impact on your site. Always run a manual scan after major deployments or configuration changes rather than waiting for the next scheduled scan.

Manual Scans

You can run an immediate scan alongside your schedule at any time. Go to the domain detail page, click Scan Now, and the scan starts immediately, independent of your schedule.

Sales Account Scan Limits

If you're on a Sales plan, scheduled scans count toward your monthly limit. Sales plans include 30 scans per month with a maximum of 1 per domain. Sales Pro plans include 75 scans per month with a maximum of 2 per domain. Your remaining scan count is shown in the sidebar.

Notifications

When a scheduled scan completes, you'll be notified based on your notification settings. This includes a Scan Completed email and a Critical Issues alert if urgent vulnerabilities are found. See Notification Preferences to configure these.
